Submissions open through Nov. 17
After a successful inaugural year that drew more than 500 residents, the Highland Square Neighborhood Association will present the 2nd Annual Highland Square Film Festival, Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m., at The Highland Theatre, 826 W. Market St.
The film fest encourages local filmmakers of all ranges of expertise to tell their Akron-inspired stories and is open to all ages and skill levels. While films with an Akron focus will take priority for judging, the only criteria is that submissions be 5 minutes or less. First-place winner will receive $2,500, second place will be awarded $1,000 and third place will receive $500 the night of the festival.
Submissions for the Highland Square Film Fest are due Sunday, Nov. 17, at midnight, and filmmakers may enter by uploading their video to YouTube or Vimeo, and emailing the link to [email protected], along with a $25 submission fee through the PayPal link, https://www.paypal.com/paypalme2/highlandsquare.
(Please note when paying that the fee is for 2019’s Film Festival, along with your name.)
The Film Fest also is planning a panel discussion, featuring local filmmaker Josh Gippin, along with a number of related activities. Details will be released closer to the event.
