Event includes buying, trading bicycles, bike corral, slowest bicycle race
— Summit Cycling center will present Akron’s largest bicycle swap meet, Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at Lock 3 park in Downtown Akron.
Hours are 5:30 to 11 p.m. April 15 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16.
Bicycle sellers may have swap meet space for free to sell extra cycling valuables. Space assignment starts at 4 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday on a first come, first served basis.
Buyers looking for some cool cycling gear will have the pick of a variety of bicycles and cycling gear at competitive prices.
For those who want to sell a bicycle without the hassle (and haggle), organizers will sell a bicycle for only $10. All you need to do is drop it off at the bike corral. Bicycle owners only pay if their bicycle is sold.
Also at the event are a bicycle clearance and raffle. Summit Cycling Center is clearing put its excess inventory of used bicycles and parts.
There’s also a chance to win a bicycle. Summit Cycling Center is raffling some of its better bicycles with tickets priced at $1, $2 or $3.
RUBBER CITY SLOW CYCLE RACE
The Rubber City Slow Cycle Race offers a quirky and fun bike race with a simple principle: the loser wins. The winner is the cyclist who crosses the finish line in the slowest time. There will be heats on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
Food, drinks and snacks also are available Saturday at the concession stand. Friday evening includes free food and drinks at the opening night celebration when Bike Party Akron returns to Lock 3.
