For almost two decades, Texas-born artist Trenton Doyle Hancock has developed an epic visual narrative in which mythical “Mounds” serve as the protagonists in an ongoing battle between good and evil. His colorful characters, vivid imagery, and elaborate mythologies have earned international recognition.
Doyle will talk about his work, which includes a large mural commissioned for the Dallas Cowboys Stadium Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. in Folk Hall, home of The University of Akron’s Myers School of Art, 150 East Exchange St. The lecture and parking are free. Call (330) 972-6030 for more information.
“Skin and Bones: 20 Years of Drawing,” an exhibition of Hancock’s work, runs Sept. 3 through Jan. 4 at the Akron Art Museum.
