Among Greater Akron’s older adult population, loneliness remains a critical physical and social problem. And being isolated and feeling lonely aren’t always easy to combat.
But, with a brave first step, there are ways to beat the loneliness blues and maybe even rediscover some of the best parts of living in Greater Akron.
It can be difficult to motivate yourself when you’re feeling alone, but taking that first step is the most important one. Ways to do that include:
· Doing some internet research as to what groups there are to suit your interests.
· Ask friends and family members on social media sites like Facebook for suggestions.
· Visit your local art gallery and pick up some leaflets while you enjoy the show or art.
· Rediscover the Akron Zoo or find out more about Akron’s Tree City status.
There are so many wonderful things about Greater Akron, some that you may have forgotten about. Take a closer look at the parts of your home-town that interest you and discover new activities and like-minded friends, too.
