The University of Akron Dance Company (UADC) presents the Spring 2016 Dance Concert April 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall, 198 Hill St., in downtown Akron.
This production is a collection of individual works and styles from guest choreographers Kora Radella and Nick Carlisle along with UA dance faculty Kara Stewart and Cydney Spohn.

Kora Radella will be one of the guest choreographers at the University of Akron Dance Company’s Spring Concert.
Guest Choreographer Kora Radella is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Kenyon College and is the choreographer and co-artistic director of BOOMERANG and Double-Edge Dance (DED). Radella’s portrayal of “awkward grace” will be shown in her new work “The Constellations We Make,” inspired by the writings of Rebecca Solnit.
This piece will be paired with the Violin Sonata in D Minor,“La Folia” by Arcangelo Corelli. Guest Choreographer Nick Carlisle, dance faculty from Lake Erie College, will use Terry Riley’s G-Song, for his modern dance work “Trendencies.”
Cydney Spohn’s contemporary ballet, “Sanctuary,” includes a composition by UA Music faculty Daniel McCarthy and will feature percussionist Colin Dees and flautist Kelley Wilson.
Inspired by the musical spirit of Arcangelo Corelli, Kara Stewart uses traditional classical ballet movement vocabulary and structure to bring the composer’s robust allegro movements to life in her piece entitled, “Corelli Coterie.”
Tickets are $14 for general admission, $12 for seniors, alumni, UA faculty and staff, and $7 for students. For additional information, visit www.uakron.edu/dtaa or www.facebook.com/TheArtsStartHere.
