The Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring “LGBT* Diversity Training: Delivering Authentic Hospitality During and After Gay Games 9” as part of their Partnerships in Motion, The Workshop Series. The event will be held at the John S. Knight Center (77 E. The program will feature opening remarks by Gregg Mervis, President & CEO, Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau and Tom Nobbe, Executive Director, Gay Games 9. An hour-long TAG** Approved LGBT Diversity Training Session will be conducted via teleconference from Palm Desert, CA by David M. Paisley, Senior Research Director, Community Marketing & Insights (Community Marketing, Inc).
Mark Ford, Executive Director, The Love Akron Network will present Faith-Based Perspectives on Diversity & the LGBT Community; and a Multi-Disciplinary Diversity Resource Panel will provide additional insights with Q&A. The panelists include: Rebecca Callahan, Executive Director, CANAPI (Community Aids Network/Akron Pride Initiative); Robert DeJournett, Director of Community Relations & Diversity, Summa Health System; Christen DuVernay, Director of Programs, The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio; Mark Ford, Executive Director, The Love Akron Network; Latoya Harris, Workforce Liaison, Summit County Department of Job and Family Services; and Myra Snipes, Training/EEO Officer, The City of Akron.
