Weathervane Playhouse will offer spring classes that encourage children to unplug from their day-to-day and explore the world waiting to be revealed through a love of imagination and theater. The spring session will feature some of Weathervane’s most popular classes, Musical Theatre and Introduction to Acting. New this year are offerings in the advanced classes of Acting and Musical theatre, both of which are taught by highly qualified members of Actor’s Equity Association. Weathervane offers a state of the art facility and all classes culminate in a final presentation on the last day in the mainstage auditorium!
Tuition for the classes ranges $140 through $200 per student. Scholarships are available based on financial need. Scholarship applications available on-line. Class sizes are limited.
“These classes will fill quickly,” said Sarah Bailey, Director of Education and Resident Director at Weathervane.
“If a parent is not sure which class is right for their child, our education staff is here to help!”

In addition to the youth classes, Weathervane wants adults to get moving and parents to be involved while their children are in class. Adults and teens 14 and up, are invited to learn a new skill, exercise and have fun by spending Saturday mornings dancing in a NEW dance class “Broadway Bodies.” This class takes place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays during our youth classes and is open to all skill levels. Participants will learn tap, ballet, and jazz from Kevin Lambes. Kevin brings a mix of experience and encouragement to those who may be new to dance or haven’t danced in a while. Kevin started to dance at the late age of 18 so was driven to make up for lost time by performing in as many shows as possible. His performance credits include ‘A Chorus Line!,’ ‘West Side Story,’ ’42nd Street,’ ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,’ and ‘Music Man,’ his first show at Weathervane. Performance naturally led to production work. Some directing and choreography credits include: ‘Anything Goes,’ ‘Dames at Sea,’ ‘Pippin,’ ‘Mame,’ ‘Gypsy,’ ‘The Fantasticks,’ ‘You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,’ and ’25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,’ also at Weathervane. He counts Brad French and Frank Hatchett as his biggest influences.
“Broadway Bodies” runs March 5 through May 14 with no class on March 26. Tuition is $100 for the whole session or, if you want to attend week-by-week contact Sarah Bailey, [email protected], for special arrangements. Registration for “Broadway Bodies” is at http://www.WeathervanePlayhouse.com/adults.
