
Western Reserve Playhouse will bring the classic children’s novel “Anne of Green Gables” to the stage. The show opens Friday, Sept. 13, at the theater, located at 3326 Everett Road, Bath.
This new dramatization centers on orphan girl, Anne Shirley, from her first encounter with her austere guardian to her graduation from Queen’s Academy.
The play marks Anne’s growth from adolescence to early adulthood: her friendship with Diana, her feuds with Gilbert, her adoration of Matthew, the mistaken wine bottle, the cake disaster, the broken leg, scholastic achievements, and the saving of Green Gables.

The cast is led by Molly Kessler (Anne), Harriet DeVeto (Marilla), Tenley Stitzer (Diana), and Stephen Morse (Matthew). Returning to the Western Reserve Playhouse stage are James Patrick (Gilbert), Kerry Scanlon (Mrs. Barry), Kathy Pekarcik (Rachel), Dorota Zarzveka, and Zach Manthey.
New to the Western Reserve Playhouse stage are, Kathy Turk, Katie Heckroth, Lily Drybola, Trevor Kessler, Colleen Kessler, Ella Bozan, Camryn Henderson, Scarlett Dudley, Rosalie Sajovie, Catherine Messner, Barbara Stitzer, and Suzanne Heckroth.
Directed by Brianna Joi, Stage Managed by Hannah Hilty , Costume Design by Kelsey Tomlinson (Little Women), Light Design by Daniel Hunsicker (Heather’s The Musical), props by Sue Snyder (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), Set Design by Walt Kaminski, and Set Construction by Jim Gremba. “Anne of Green Gables” is from the novel by L.M. Montgomery and adapted by Joseph Robinette.
