With Mother’s Day approaching, the Women’s Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation is asking the community to honor their SHEroes – the women in their lives who have been heroes to them – whether a mother, sister, girlfriend or mentor.
A gift to the Women’s Endowment Fund will benefit women and girls across Greater Akron for years to come.
Through April 30, donors can make tribute or memorial gifts in honor of the SHEroes who have impacted their lives. In turn, those women will receive a Mother’s Day card informing them that a gift was made in their name, though the amount will not be disclosed.
Donations will ultimately support the Women’s Endowment Fund’s grantmaking, which to date exceeds $850,000 to programs that improve women’s economic empowerment, safety and health and wellness.
“The Mother’s Day campaign is a great opportunity for individuals to honor the important women in their lives while supporting causes that uplift women and girls,” said Cindy Johnson, president of the Women’s Endowment Fund. “And this year’s new theme is a fun way to let these women know they’re your SHEroes.”
Last year’s Mother’s Day campaign raised more than $12,000 for the Women’s Endowment Fund. This year, sponsors of the campaign include: Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, FirstMerit Bank, Catherine Haller, REALTOR – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty, State and Federal Communications, SeibertKeck Insurance and Common Good Consulting.
