Hi, I enjoyed your old school hardware presentation. My family also owned ans operated an old school hardware store as well. We were located South of Swan Hardware at South Arlington St. and Waterloo Rd. My grandparents opened it in 1948 and we hung on until 2006. The arrival of D.I.Y. then Home Depo and finally Lowes really took its toll. But for many years we were a very steady established business. Listening to the remaining owners and their stories is so identical to our story as well. We all were aware of each other during our “Hay Days” so it brought back many great memories. Thank You, James Varca, former V.P. Varca Hardware Inc.
Thank you so much Mr. Varca for your comments, that means a lot to me. I only wish I could have had the opportunity to include your place in the project. your location would have been a rich addition. Would you be so kind as to re-post letter on my face book page? it’s Mcdaniel Elder Clyde.
Thanks again!
